The Soothe Team has been hard at work implementing new features designed to make running your business easier than ever. We’ve redesigned service area preferences, updated our app navigation, and made it simpler to find the information you really need to provide great service for every client you book.

Easier App Navigation

Our new account menu is built to provide shortcuts into the areas of the app you don’t always use, but want easy access to when you need them. You’ll now be able to access your 1099, Stripe Payout, Profile Picture, Bio, and location bundles from the Account page. This is also where you’ll be able to email and chat with our support team, access the help center, and discover tutorials to help you get the most out of the provider app. The pages you use most frequently in your day to day are still conveniently available from the main menu on the left hand side of the screen.

We’ve broken the new account menu out into easy-to-understand sections to help you quickly find exactly what you’re looking for.

  • Manage Profile – Here, you’ll be able to update your profile image and bio
  • Offer Settings – Set your general availability, design location bundles, and choose your preferred service categories to ensure you see the offers that are most relevant to you first.
  • Settings – This is where you’ll be able to manage most of the business-related aspects of your business. You can pause offers, update your mailing address, manage stripe payouts, track therapist agreement forms, update your transportation method, get verified, and view your 1099 tax forms.
  • Support – Get help, as soon as you need it. In addition to chatting or emailing directly with our support staff, you’ll be able to easily tap into resources like the help center or our tutorials page.
  • Legal – Here, you’ll be able to quickly and easily access the Terms and Conditions or the Privacy Policy, should you ever need them.
  • Logout – We all need a break, sometimes. Just don’t forget to log back in!

Map It Out

With our new Service Area mapping feature, you’ll be able to set exact boundaries for your service locations, just by drawing it on a map. All you have to do is go to Offers > Offer Preferences > Service Areas and then draw your preferred service area boundaries directly in the map.

When you’re ready to set a location, you can navigate the map with three simple controls:

  • Pinch to zoom in and out
  • Use two fingers to drag the map
  • Draw with one finger to set the boundaries of your desired location

You can set multiple service locations in order to see offers that best match your needs and your schedule. You can also group these locations together into Location Bundles, making it easy to be as broad or as specific with offer preferences as you want.

We want to make it easy to find important offer information, first. That’s why we’ve created a brand new For You section. Here, you’ll be able to find the most relevant offers to you and your business, based on the criteria you selected in Offer Preferences. Upcoming Appointments

We’ve updated the Upcoming Appointments page to include larger cards designed to highlight the most relevant information you need to prep for your day. Plus, the cards feature shortcuts that allow you to change an appointment status from “On my way” to “Check in” to “Check out” with just a tap. You’ll also be able to view past appointments from this screen, allowing you to better track where you’ve been and where you’re going.

In order to make this tool as useful as possible, we’ve designed a few new icons to help you find information quickly and easily. Look for icons to indicate the type of building, available parking, accessibility considerations, and any pets you may need to be aware of before entering.

Soothe sees demand double in major markets over Valentine’s Day weekend due to home-centric preferences


LOS ANGELES — February 16, 2021 — Soothe (www.soothe.com), the world’s leading on-demand wellness platform offering massage, skincare, and beauty services, reports that demand in major markets doubled since last year during the Valentine’s Day holiday weekend due to consumer preferences for unique stay-at-home experiences.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) reported that 41% of consumers were choosing to stay in this Valentine’s Day and create a unique experience at home. Data from Soothe suggests this happened. For example, Miami grew 100% and even historically-strong areas like Los Angeles grew 80%, with requests in some areas like Orange County growing as much as 130%. Demand in cities like Chicago, Dallas, and Seattle were on pace to double, but then dropped to only a 36% growth rate as horrible winter storms impacted those markets.

Consumers have adapted to making their homes a center for health and wellness, including receiving many of the services historically only available at a spa or salon. This is an expansion of the trend experienced by the Fitness industry in 2020. From January through November of 2020, according to data from Sensor Tower, approximately 2.5 billion health and fitness apps were downloaded worldwide — a 47% jump from the same period in 2019 – and Health and fitness equipment revenue more than doubled, to $2.3 billion, from March to October, according to NPD retail data.

“There is an increased focus on health and wellness since the pandemic started, yet people are social and desire personal connections beyond just streaming services,” says John Ellis, Soothe’s CEO. “Soothe enables people to still get the services they desire from top professionals while making wellness part of their everyday life at home.”

Rebecca Taylor, a Soothe customer in Miami states, “The experience was fantastic! I booked a Couple’s Massage for me and my mom and she loved it…I’m not comfortable going places and I’d rather have the services come to me. I do the same for my nails and a few other services.”

Diane Sanford in San Antonio says, “The experience was outstanding. Soothe is safer and there’s no need to fight traffic to get to a spa. The convenience of having a professional come to you is awesome. I look forward to my next session with the same therapist next week.”

Soothe offers individual services and a membership plan for those who want to save money and make wellness a regular part of their monthly routine. The Soothe app is available for iOS users on the App Store and Android users on the Google Play store.

What is Evident?

Evident is the industry’s leading identity verification software and utilizes state-of-the-art data encryption software to give you peace of mind when sharing your personal information and credentials.

Why Evident?

Soothe prioritizes your safety and security, which is why we are excited to release our full integration with Evident: our new one-stop-shop for credential verification and background checks. Thanks to Evident’s data encryption software, your information is kept locked tight and confidential.

How does it work?

Moving forward, when one of your credentials expires or is approaching expiration, Evident will request a new copy of your credential. You will upload it within their secure system, and they will verify it against the issuing agency or association. Once verified, Soothe will receive a notification. Don’t worry, your information will be kept safe

What will be requested?

Soothe will ask you to complete the following verifications annually:

  • Professional License/Certification Verification
  • Professional Liability Verification
  • Criminal Background Check
  • All Soothe applicants will also be asked to submit ID Verification

I’m having a problem uploading my Identity Document.

First, if you are having an issue uploading your identity document you’ll want to ensure a few things.

Check to make sure the identity document that you are uploading is an unexpired passport, driver’s license or ID card. If it is, then make sure that you are taking the picture in a room with plenty of light and that the ID is placed on a black background. Ensure that the image fills about 80% of the screen on your device when you take the picture – meaning that you shouldn’t zoom in or out too much with the camera.. Also ensure that all four corners of the image are visible. 

You’ll also want to ensure that the option you select matches the actual document that you upload. For example, you want to be sure you don’t select “driver’s license” if you are uploading a passport. A driver’s license qualifies as an ID card, so if you are uploading a driver’s license, use the “ID Card” dropdown. 

If you try to take a good picture three different times, and the computer vision technology is still having trouble detecting the submission, the Evident system will give you the option to submit your image as it is. Be advised that if you choose this option, Evident will attempt to complete the verification but it is not guaranteed. Therefore, it is better to take your time with a good high-quality image the first time around, than rush through the submission and have to submit again later. 

If you have more questions about how to take a good picture, or the type of IDs that you can select, you can reach out to Soothe at trustandsafety@soothe.com. If the issue you are dealing with seems like a technical problem, then you should reach out the Evident using this form.

I don’t know what the insurance requirements are to be on Soothe’s platform, or my insurance doesn’t meet the requirements.

Soothe has a specific threshold that professional liability insurance must meet in order to be considered valid for the purposes of accessing the platform. For example, the insurance must be valid and unexpired with massage as a service type that is covered. Additionally, the insurance must have a coverage amount of $1M or more per occurrence/claim and $3M or more in aggregate coverage. It does not matter if the coverage is per claims or per occurrence. If you don’t currently have this level of coverage, you may elect to contact your insurance and get this coverage prior to submitting the insurance verification. 

I started the verification process with Soothe, but that was several months ago and now my link doesn’t work anymore. 

If you started the verification process with Soothe weeks ago, and you are just now returning to it, there’s a chance that your link has expired. In the interest of protecting your personal information, Evident ensures this link expires after some time.  If you have the app, you can request a new link from the app if it is still available. If not, you may reach out to Soothe and they can create a new link for you. Evident will not be able to create a new link for you. 

I’m in the middle of the application process, and I’m not sure what the next step is. 

If you’re in the middle of the application process, and you aren’t sure what the next step is, Soothe should be able to assist in answering this question for you. 

I submitted my information for the background check verification, and it still hasn’t completed yet. Why is it taking so long?

Most background checks complete relatively quickly, but completion times can be dependent on how many times you’ve moved within the last few years as well as how quickly courts respond to Evident’s requests for data. If your background check has been processing for more than 4 weeks, you can reach out to Evident for more information. 

Because of the recent pandemic, some courts are not available to pull records. If you have lived in one of these counties within the last seven years, it could cause a delay in the background check.  You can track a list of court closures here 

I received a notice that I failed the background check, but I don’t have a criminal record. 

If Soothe sent you a notification that you failed the background check portion of the verification, but you don’t have a criminal record, then you may need to complete the dispute process. To dispute the record, reach out to Evident using this form. You may provide Evident with any evidence that shows that a specific criminal record should not be associated with your identity. The dispute process can take up to 30 days to complete. 

Please note that if you know you have a criminal record, but you believe that this record should not disqualify you from accessing the Soothe platform, you should contact Soothe via trustandsafety@soothe.com to see if they will make an exception for you. This is unrelated to the dispute process.

What is CBD? 

CBD is a natural, non-intoxicating chemical found in cannabis, meaning you will feel no “high” from using CBD. Products containing CBD come in many forms, from oils and lotions for massage, to tinctures, snacks and skincare. When offering CBD massage enhancements, use CBD products that are high quality, safe and third-party tested for their effectiveness and dosage. 

Soothe clients in the US have the option to add CBD oil as an enhancement to any massage modality, and any Soothe massage therapists can choose to offer CBD massage as part of their service.

Benefits of CBD massage

There are many claims touting the benefits and uses for CBD products on the market today. However, studies are still being conducted to determine the compound’s effectiveness for treating certain conditions. 

However, research has already proven that CBD can have many benefits, especially when used in conjunction with massage therapy. When applied topically, as during massage therapy, a study from the National Institute of Health showed that CBD has many benefits.

CBD can give a post-massage glow, too. Because CBD derived from hemp has high concentrations of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, it is a potent moisturizer that helps promote healthier skin.

How to perform a CBD massage for therapists

When offering CBD massage to your clients, you will incorporate CBD-infused oils and lotions into the massage, as a targeted treatment. 

Before the session, communicate the benefits of CBD products to the client, and note any areas of pain or tension to target during the treatment. Be sure the client understands the type of products and dosage you are using.

Sessions incorporating additional healing techniques have been consistently requested, and we wanted to help you get more clients – especially since many of you are already certified in and performing a number of additional modalities by request.

 

See what’s new:

All modalities will be optional for therapists on the Soothe Network, and you’ll have to opt-in via the Soothe Therapist App. The updated list of modalities shown in the Therapist app will include, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Prenatal, Chair, Percussive Therapy, CBD, Hot Stone, Reiki, Stretching, Reflexology, Meditation, and Yoga.

How to opt-in: 

Tap on Account Settings in the Therapist app, and select all of the modalities that you are interested in and have the certification/license/insurance to perform. Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the app: iOS Therapist 2.14.8 or Android Therapist 2.15.6. If you have questions, please email mtsupport@soothe.com for assistance.
